Krakow officials investigate foam reported in Rudawa River
Authorities in Krakow are investigating reports of significant foam appearing on the surface of the Rudawa River. The issue gained attention on social media after residents of Wola Justowska shared images of thick foam, sparking concerns regarding potential water pollution and environmental damage.
Following a report from the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, officials from the Krakow City Hall Department of Environment, Climate, and Air conducted a field inspection along the river, specifically near Zarudawie, Jesionowa, Becka, and Podłużna streets.
During the inspection, officials reported seeing only small amounts of foam accumulating near the banks and around obstacles in the riverbed, such as branches. They noted that the phenomenon was most frequent near river thresholds and did not observe any concerning odors in the area. The exact cause of the foam remains unexplained, though local residents have speculated about illegal sewage discharges.
