Kraków advances school expansions and new developer negotiation rules
Kraków is undergoing significant urban development through major educational infrastructure projects and new regulatory frameworks for developers.
The city is investing heavily in school expansions to meet growing demand. Key projects include the expansion of School and Kindergarten Complex No. 15 on Grochowa Street, a 64.7 million PLN project expected to be operational by 2026. It will feature 24 classrooms, a modern gymnasium, and medical facilities. Additionally, Primary School No. 54 on Tyniecka Street is undergoing a 65.4 million PLN expansion to accommodate 600 students. Other ongoing works include expansions at School and Kindergarten Complex No. 8 and Primary School No. 62.
In parallel, the city administration has established a task force to negotiate integrated investment plans (ZPI) with developers. This team will negotiate urban agreements where developers provide additional investments for the city in exchange for permission to build residential housing on previously restricted land. Under these rules, developers will pay the city for every square meter of new housing created. The upcoming administration under Łuksza Gibała is expected to review these established negotiation rules.
