Kraków Airport begins major T6 terminal expansion
Kraków Airport is undergoing a major transformation marked by its 30th anniversary and the commencement of its largest infrastructure project to date. The airport has officially laid the foundation stone for the new T6 passenger terminal, a project valued at approximately 537.7 million PLN net. This expansion aims to increase the airport's capacity to 16 million passengers annually, with long-term goals of reaching 20 million passengers per year through a broader investment program worth over 4 billion PLN.
The T6 terminal will add 45,000 square meters of space, including 11 gates, three towers, and over 70 check-in counters. It will also house the non-Schengen arrivals and departures zones and a central commercial and gastronomic area.
In addition to physical expansion, the airport has implemented a new ILS/DME “KRW” precision approach and landing system. Currently operating in Category I, the system is designed to reduce delays caused by fog and poor visibility. The airport plans to transition to Category II operations by the first quarter of 2027, following necessary certifications, which will allow for safer landings in even more challenging weather conditions.
