Kraków and Łódź install water curtains as heat wave hits Poland

The municipal water utility in Kraków activated misting water curtains on the Main Market Square, Small Market Square, Podgórski Square and Rose Alley after forecasts predicted temperatures above 27 °C. The installations operate from 10:00 to 19:00 and are accompanied by public reminders to stay hydrated and to drink tap water, which officials say meets EU and national quality standards.

In Łódź, city authorities set up similar water curtains along Piotrkowska Street, including the Schiller Passage, to give pedestrians a quick cooling relief during the expected heat spell. The initiative is part of a broader plan to improve summer livability, reduce reliance on air‑conditioning and promote environmentally friendly ways to cope with high temperatures.
