Kraków opens new Kazimierz-Ludwinów pedestrian and bicycle bridge
A new pedestrian and bicycle footbridge connecting the Kazimierz and Ludwinów districts in Kraków was officially opened on Sunday, October 4. The 130-meter-long structure, which cost approximately 120 million PLN, spans the Vistula River, linking Bulwar Inflancki with Bulwar Wołyński.
The bridge features a sinusoid shape and is roughly 13.6 meters wide. It includes two outer lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as a central walkway dedicated exclusively to pedestrians. The construction consists of three steel box beams, with the two outer beams forming arches.
During the evening inauguration ceremony, the city's anthem was played, and the bridge was illuminated in Kraków’s white and blue colors. Acting Mayor Stanisław Kracik noted that the investment addresses a long-standing need for a permanent crossing, noting that the site previously hosted a bridge destroyed by Swedish forces in 1657 and later a ferry service.
