Kraków shifts 2025 budget toward local infrastructure

Kraków is shifting its investment strategy for the 2025 budget to focus on smaller, high-impact projects that directly improve the daily quality of life for its residents. Mayor Aleksander Miszalski stated that the city is moving away from oversized investments that do not translate directly into improved living standards.

As a result of this revision, several large-scale projects, including a Winter Sports Center, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a new headquarters for the ZZM, have been excluded from the current budget. Instead, funds will be redirected toward hundreds of smaller tasks aimed at improving infrastructure and services, particularly in residential areas far from the city center.

Key areas of focus include the construction of new schools and nurseries, development of social and educational facilities, expansion of green spaces, and improvements to public transport. The budget also prioritizes municipal housing, thermal modernization of buildings, road and utility infrastructure updates, bicycle paths, and the creation of new parks and squares.
