Kraków waterworks advise schools to flush water systems
Waterworks in Kraków are advising administrators of schools, kindergartens, and cultural centers to flush their water installations before the new school year begins on September 1.
Due to the two-month summer break, water remaining in internal pipes may have stagnated, potentially leading to changes in its color, taste, or smell. To ensure safety, officials recommend a three-step process: opening all taps to drain old water, letting the water run for several minutes until fresh water arrives, and verifying that the water temperature is cool (between a few and a dozen degrees Celsius).
Administrators are also reminded to flush any water dispensers installed in schools. The water drained during this process can be reused for tasks such as watering plants, cleaning floors, or flushing toilets to avoid waste.
