Kraljevo declares mourning after fatal traffic accident

The city of Kraljevo has declared a day of mourning following the death of a five-year-old girl who succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic accident. The incident occurred on August 24 in Četvrtog kraljevačkog bataljona Street.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a 26-year-old individual, identified as A. J., was driving a Seat without a driver's license. During an attempt to overtake, the driver struck a Volkswagen traveling in the opposite direction. The vehicle then veered onto a pedestrian and bicycle path, hitting a tree and several pedestrians.

The five-year-old girl died from her injuries on Tuesday. Her mother (32) and one-year-old sister, who was in a stroller, also sustained serious injuries. The girl's father (35) and a 33-year-old passenger in the Seat sustained minor injuries. A court has ordered 30 days of detention for the suspect, A. J., following a proposal from the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Kraljevo.
