Kraljevo traffic accident kills five-year-old girl

A tragic traffic accident in Kraljevo, Serbia, resulted in the death of a five-year-old girl on August 25, 2026. The incident occurred around 7:00 PM in Ulica 4. kraljevački bataljon when a 26-year-old driver, identified as J. A., lost control of his Seat vehicle during an overtaking maneuver.

The vehicle collided with a Volkswagen traveling in the opposite direction before veering onto a pedestrian and bicycle path. The car struck a family walking on the sidewalk, hitting a 32-year-old mother, a five-year-old girl, and a one-year-old sibling in a stroller. The five-year-old girl was transported to the University Children's Clinic in Belgrade, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The mother and the one-year-old sustained serious injuries and remain under medical care.

Police investigations revealed that J. A. was driving without a valid driver's license. He has been arrested and placed in detention for up to 30 days on suspicion of committing a serious offense against public traffic safety. In response to the tragedy, the City of Kraljevo announced it will declare a day of mourning on the day of the girl's funeral.
