Kranj police detain man after violent assault on staff and officers

In Kranj, Slovenia, a 53-year-old man was detained after a violent outburst at a local establishment. The man reportedly attacked staff and damaged property before turning his aggression toward responding police officers. Because the suspect attacked officers with dangerous objects, police utilized force, including a service dog that bit the man to subdue him. The incident resulted in injuries to a restaurant employee and a female police officer. Following his arrest, a judge at the District Court in Kranj ordered his detention. The suspect is facing charges of violence and preventing an official act. Additionally, police noted the man had been involved in a traffic accident prior to the confrontation.

In a separate incident at the University Clinical Center (UKC) Ljubljana, an employee was disciplined for the unauthorized photography and sharing of patient images, including sensitive documentation and photos of patients with severe injuries. The hospital characterized the incident as a serious violation of privacy and has reported the matter to the police, the Information Commissioner, and the Patient Rights Representative.
