Kranj to receive funding for Kokra Canyon renovation
The Municipality of Kranj has been approved for co-financing to renovate the Kokra Canyon. Based on a decision by the Association of Municipalities of Slovenia, the municipality is eligible for 700,000 euros in combined state and European funds.
The total investment for the project is estimated at 1.6 million euros. The initiative focuses on improving green and blue infrastructure in the urban area near Kranj's old town center. Planned works include upgrading existing paths, improving access to the river on the right bank near Županova brv, and connecting the canyon and trenches to the city center.
Additional improvements will involve renovating both entrances to the trenches, upgrading the upper platform with lighting and communal infrastructure, and constructing a sanitary facility. The project also aims to create nearly one kilometer of natural riverbank walkways and ensure accessibility for all demographic groups, including technical adjustments for those with mobility impairments.
