Krapina hosts the 61st Kajkavian Culture Week

The 61st Kajkavian Culture Week has officially opened in Krapina, marking the start of a major festival dedicated to the Kajkavian dialect, music, dance, and regional traditions. The event began with a traditional Children's Promenade, where 12 groups from various kindergartens, primary schools, and cultural-artistic societies (KUDs) performed traditional songs and dances.

During the opening ceremony, Damir Novina, president of the Society for Kajkavian Cultural Creativity, emphasized the importance of preserving the local dialect and heritage for future generations. Krapina Mayor Zoran Gregurović noted the festival's long history, tracing its origins back to a group of enthusiasts in 1966, and highlighted its growth into one of the most significant cultural events in the Zagorje region.
