Krapinsko‑zagorska County Awards €91,000 Tourism Grants

On 15 July 2026, Župan Željko Kolar of Krapinsko‑zagorska County handed contracts to 20 tourism operators for non‑repayable grants totalling €91,111.77. The original budget of €80,000 was increased by €11,111.77 because of the high quality of the projects. Kolar said, “We follow market conditions and raise funds when we have hit the right direction.”

The subsidies are intended to improve existing accommodation and add new, innovative tourist facilities such as pools, wellness and spa zones, sports playgrounds, cycling‑tourism infrastructure and renewable‑energy installations. Of the 27 applications received, 20 were approved; 13 recipients are already part of the “True Zagorje Home” certification. The county has 206 holiday homes, 60 with pools, and 40 certified under the program.

Tourism statistics released by the county’s tourism office show 109,653 arrivals and 236,449 overnight stays up to 14 July, representing increases of 7.8 % and 10.6 % respectively compared with the same period last year.
