Krasnodar Region Sets Up Mobile Units to Shield Industry from Ukrainian Drones

Governor Veniamin Kondratyev of Russia's Krasnodar region announced the creation of mobile fire‑fighter units staffed by employees of local companies to protect critical industrial and agricultural facilities from Ukrainian drone attacks. Participants will sign contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defence, receive a monthly stipend of 50,000 roubles, and are guaranteed they will not be deployed to the combat zone in Ukraine. The units are tasked with defending oil refineries, energy installations, fuel depots and petrochemical plants.

Similar volunteer formations have been established in other Russian regions, including Primorsky Krai and Leningrad Oblast, where financial incentives of up to 250,000 roubles for signing a contract and 100,000 roubles per downed drone have been offered. The expansion reflects Moscow's broader strategy of integrating civilian workers into the country's defense infrastructure to counter the growing frequency of drone strikes on strategic assets.
