Kregor Zirk misses 200m butterfly final at European Championships

Estonian swimmer Kregor Zirk narrowly missed the final in the 200m butterfly at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Zirk finished tenth overall after recording a time of 1:56.04 in the semifinals, missing the qualifying time of 1:55.88 by just 0.16 seconds.

Zirk had performed well in the morning heats, finishing sixth with a time of 1:55.96, which was a season-best for him. However, he struggled in the evening session, finishing eight hundredths of a second slower than his morning mark.

Reflecting on the performance, Zirk expressed disappointment, stating, “I do not go to title competitions for semifinal places.” He noted that while the morning session was strong, the finish of the evening race was difficult. He remains focused on future goals, including the Olympics in two years.
