Kreischberg ski resort to launch new 8‑seat chairlift in December 2026

The Kreischberg ski area in Austria is set to replace its 1994‑built 2‑seat lift with a modern 8‑seat chairlift (model CD8C Rosenkranz) supplied by Leitner. The €18 million project received final approval on 30 June 2026 from the Seilbahnbehörde, with Mag. Agnes Rothensteiner announcing the green light. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on 7 July 2026 with landowners, construction firms and guests. Components for the lift are being stored on a mountain parking area before transport to the site, and the first parts arrived on 3 August 2026. The lift, 1.4 km long, will run from 1 722 m to 2 120 m altitude, covering a 398 m vertical rise with 77 chairs. The old 2‑seat lift will be sold as memorabilia to visitors on specific dates in August. The resort also promotes a combined ski‑and‑golf experience, allowing guests to ski in the morning and play a 9‑hole round in the afternoon until the season’s end in early April.
