UK and Ukraine sign landmark AI defense and missile technology agreement

The United Kingdom and Ukraine have established a landmark artificial intelligence defense partnership. Under the agreement, signed by Prime Minister Andy Burnham and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the UK will gain access to Ukraine’s Avengers AI Labs battlefield data. This dataset, comprising approximately five million images and millions of sensor observations, is used to train AI models to identify military targets such as tanks, artillery, and drones.

In exchange, the UK will provide Ukraine with access to its technological ecosystem, including researchers, universities, and specialized startups. The collaboration aims to accelerate the development of next-generation defense technologies and protect critical infrastructure.

Simultaneously, the UK government has authorized the release of classified technical data regarding British-made components for SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles to enable Ukraine to produce the long-range weapons domestically.

In response, the Kremlin has condemned these actions. Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the UK is “directly participating in the war” and is “systematically and regularly pouring oil on the fire.” Russia has also warned of potential “semi-military” responses against UK drone manufacturers.
