Kremlin claims adaptation to 30,000 sanctions amid new US energy tariffs

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov stated that Russia has adapted to more than 30,000 existing sanctions and has developed methods to minimize their negative impact. Peskov noted that Moscow's commercial partners have expressed a consensus in rejecting new restrictive policies.

The comments follow the signing of the ‘Lindsey O. Graham Sanctions Act of 2026’ by US President Donald Trump. The legislation, which passed the US House of Representatives with 262 votes in favor and 159 against, aims to increase pressure on the Russian and Iranian energy industries.

The act authorizes the US President to impose tariffs of up to 100% on major buyers of Russian and Iranian energy resources, including countries such as China and India. Peskov remarked that these additional measures are ‘hostile actions’ that will not improve bilateral relations or assist in resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
