Kremlin dismisses allegations of Russian involvement in EU protests
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has dismissed allegations of Russian involvement in recent protests and unrest across the European Union, labeling such claims “absurd.” The comments follow demonstrations in Albania that began as student protests regarding education costs and university conditions before evolving into anti-corruption rallies against Prime Minister Edi Rama’s administration.
Prime Minister Rama has alleged that the protests are being organized by foreign entities opposed to Albania’s EU accession, specifically naming Russia and Iran. The Russian Foreign Ministry has rejected these assertions. In response, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova released a video juxtaposing statements from European leaders—including Emmanuel Macron, Kaja Kallas, and Friedrich Merz—who characterize Russia as a threat, with footage of unrest in France, Italy, and Albania. The video suggests that Europeans are rebelling against their own “blooming garden.”
Additionally, Peskov noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may visit Russia in 2027, following an invitation extended by Vladimir Putin during the 24th annual Russia-India forum.
