Kremlin leaks reveal security concerns and diplomatic tensions
Leaked private correspondence between Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov and former official Mikhail Babich, released by the hacker group ‘Black8Mirror’, has revealed internal tensions regarding security and diplomatic incidents.
The messages discuss the cancellation of a large-scale Russian Navy Day parade in Saint Petersburg, which was replaced by a smaller, televised event. Babich criticized the diminished format, to which Peskov reportedly replied that the change was made because it was ‘safer,’ suggesting concerns over potential drone strikes or other security threats.
Additionally, the leaks address an unexpected moment during a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, where the leader publicly called for an end to the war in Ukraine. Peskov characterized the remark as a ‘pure impromptu’ moment and speculated whether the comment was prompted by external influences such as Ukraine or the United States. The correspondence also touches upon internal discussions regarding Yevgeny Prigozhin and Alexei Navalny.
