Kretinga region sees rise in volunteering activity

Volunteering is increasing in the Kretinga region, driven in part by the city's designation as the Lithuanian Capital of Youth in 2025. During this period, more than 50 volunteers participated in various events and activities.

A volunteer hub operating at the M. Valančius Public Library in the Kretinga District Municipality has served as a space for young people to build competencies, socialize, and launch initiatives. Many participants have continued their involvement even after the Capital of Youth year concluded.

Despite the rising interest, challenges remain regarding the availability of organizations willing to host volunteers. Issues include a lack of human resources to supervise volunteers and the administrative complexities of the accreditation process for the Youth Voluntary Service.
