Krąg road collapse causes month-long travel disruptions

Residents of Krąg, near Starogard Gdański, have been facing significant travel disruptions for a month following the sudden collapse of a section of the main county road on August 11. The incident caused half of one traffic lane to sink, leading to a total closure of the route in both directions to ensure driver safety and protect an underlying gas pipeline.

Repairs are currently stalled as local authorities await a court-ordered expert assessment. Starosta Wioleta Strzemkowska-Konkolewska stated that an objective investigation is necessary to determine the cause of the collapse and assign responsibility. Officials noted that starting repair work prematurely could interfere with the diagnostic process.
