Krichim holds funeral for Georgi Kuzev following fatal assault

The town of Krichim held a funeral service for 37-year-old Georgi Kuzev, who died following a brutal assault on Youth Hill in Plovdiv. The service at the ‘St. Cosmas and Damian’ church was led by Metropolitan Nikolai of Plovdiv, who delivered an emotional eulogy regarding the loss of empathy and human values in society.

Kuzev was reportedly attacked and tortured by a group of teenagers identifying themselves as ‘pedophile hunters.’ The incident has sparked significant public outcry and protests demanding justice. Authorities have detained five minors, aged 14 to 17, while five others have been identified as accomplices but remain at large. Five individuals, including three boys and two girls, face formal charges.

The Mayor of Krichim, Atanas Kalchev, announced that the municipality would cover all costs for the transportation and funeral rituals to ensure a dignified farewell. Kalchev also defended the victim's character against attempts to defame him, describing Kuzev as a hardworking and kind man.
