Križevci opposition calls for extraordinary county assembly session

Opposition members in the Koprivnina-Križevci County have collected 13 signatures to convene an extraordinary session of the County Assembly. The primary objective is to discuss the City of Križevci's request to take over the issuance of construction and location permits, a responsibility currently held by the county.

Križevci Mayor Tomislav Katanović has accused the county administration, led by SDP's Tomislav Golubić, of ignoring the city's request for nearly six months. Katanović argued that the county has become an instrument for party interests rather than serving citizens. He noted that Križevci meets all prerequisites to manage these administrative tasks, similar to Koprivnica and Đurđevac.

The political tension has led to renewed discussions regarding a potential referendum. While Katanović stated he is not personally initiating it, he did not rule out the possibility of citizens voting to separate Križevci from the county and join Zagreb County if the current administration continues to ignore their needs. Mario Vrbanić, president of the county HDZ, suggested an advisory referendum on permit issuance as a possible alternative to secession.
