Kris Bowers to score Disney Animation film ‘Hexed’

Award-winning composer Kris Bowers has been selected to provide the musical score for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming feature film, ‘Hexed’. The animated film, which follows a teenage girl discovering secret magical powers, is scheduled for theatrical release on November 25.

Bowers described his creative process as one of exploration and experimentation. To capture the film’s magical realm and its themes of a mother-daughter journey, he utilized a blend of orchestra, synths, and natural sound elements. His approach included using unconventional instruments and sounds made with air, such as bird call whistles, wind wands, nose flutes, kazoos, and recordings of birds transformed into instruments.

The film features a voice cast including Hailee Steinfeld, Rashida Jones, Jodie Foster, and Walton Goggins. It is directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand.
