Krishi Vigyan Kendra launches Khet Bachao Abhiyan for sustainable farming
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) has launched the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save the Farm Campaign) to promote sustainable agricultural practices and soil health during the Rabi season.
In Dimapur, Nagaland, the campaign was initiated at Chümoukedima Village to encourage scientific soil management and eco-friendly farming. The initiative included the distribution of vermibags and garden tools to support vermicomposting, which converts organic waste into nutrient-rich manure. Additionally, a Vermicompost Model Village was inaugurated in Chümoukedima to demonstrate practical soil health management.
In Sepahijala, Tripura, the campaign focused on improving soil fertility and disseminating climate-resilient agricultural technologies. The program encouraged farmers to reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides by adopting organic alternatives such as Jeevamrut, farmyard manure, and vermicompost to ensure the production of safe, high-quality food.
