Krishna Jayanthi celebrated with rituals and costume contests in India

Krishna Jayanthi is being celebrated with various religious rituals and community events. The festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu, who is revered for establishing dharma and providing spiritual guidance through the Bhagavad Gita.

In Madurai, specifically at the Kanchi Sri Maha Periyava Temple in Ananayur, a costume competition was held to commemorate the occasion. Organized by Anushathin Anugraha and the Tamil Arima Sangam, the event saw more than 50 children participating. The children dressed as Krishna and Radha, adorned with crowns, flutes, and traditional silk clothing. Participants were awarded certificates and prizes for their performances.
