Krishnagiri flash floods destroy villager-built temporary bridge

Flash floods in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu have washed away a temporary causeway bridge near Sauttahalli Kottai village. The structure, which was built by local residents last year using Rs 8 lakh of their own funds, spanned an irrigation canal that frequently disrupts connectivity during the monsoon season.

The destruction has left more than 100 families stranded, forcing them to take a five-kilometer detour to access the main road for work and essential daily activities. Residents have long requested a permanent bridge from authorities to prevent such recurring disruptions. Villagers are now calling on the district administration to intervene and restore connectivity.
