Krista Perez faces DUI charges after multi-vehicle collision

Krista Perez, a Democratic candidate for the Washington state House of Representatives, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a multi-vehicle collision in Tacoma.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on August 11. According to Tacoma Police, Perez’s vehicle allegedly struck a parked car on South G Street, triggering a chain reaction that damaged five vehicles. Body camera footage shows Perez initially denying involvement in an accident and appearing disoriented. During questioning, she admitted to consuming wine at a friend’s business prior to the collision but declined field sobriety tests.

Perez, who finished first in the recent primary for the 29th Legislative District, Position 1, is scheduled to face incumbent Democrat Melanie Morgan in the November general election. Prosecutors have charged Perez with DUI, including a refusal enhancement related to the collision and her encounter with law enforcement.
