Kristen Stewart reflects on her ‘Twilight’ era and teenage seriousness

Actress Kristen Stewart has reflected on her experience filming the ‘Twilight’ franchise, jokingly describing her 17-year-old self as a “pretentious little loser.” Speaking on the ‘In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele’ podcast, the 36-year-old actress discussed how she and co-star Robert Pattinson approached the 2008 film with extreme seriousness.

Stewart noted that both she and Pattinson were determined to “elevate” the material and make the teenage romance feel as authentic and epic as possible. She admitted that looking back, she realizes they could have simply acted their age and “say the words,” rather than striving for such intense gravity.

Despite the self-deprecating humor, Stewart expressed that she is not annoyed by ongoing questions regarding the series. She noted that while it was difficult to view the project objectively while filming, she now appreciates the authenticity of the emotions felt during that period of her life.
