Kristi Montgomery earns first Scotland call-up
Blackburn Rovers midfielder Kristi Montgomery has received her first senior call-up to the Scotland national team. The 22-year-old promotion follows the withdrawals of experienced players Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean from the squad.
Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has assembled a 27-man group for upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Slovenia, Switzerland, and North Macedonia. Montgomery is one of eight uncapped players in the squad, signaling a generational shift in the team's composition. Tierney and McLean combined for 119 senior caps, and their absence leaves a significant gap in veteran leadership.
Montgomery, who qualifies for Scotland through her mother, has previously represented the country at the under-18, under-20, and under-21 levels. The squad also sees the return of Napoli midfielder Billy Gilmour following an injury absence, while other players such as Oli McBurnie and Scott Bain have been recalled.
