Kristian Thorstvedt remains at Sassuolo despite Fiorentina interest

Norwegian midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt has remained at Sassuolo following the conclusion of the summer transfer window, despite persistent interest and late attempts from Fiorentina to secure his signature.

Fiorentina, led by manager Fabio Grosso, reportedly made several attempts to finalize a deal for Thorstvedt, including efforts in the final hours of the market. While a general agreement between the player and the Tuscan club had reportedly been reached in July, Sassuolo maintained its position and refused to accept lower offers, ultimately keeping the player in their squad.

Thorstvedt's situation remains a point of interest for the January transfer window. Sassuolo currently faces a crowded midfield roster with 34 players, including nine midfielders. However, with several players such as Koné and Boloca sidelined by long-term injuries, the squad depth remains a significant factor for manager Alberto Aquilani.
