Kristijan Kahlina earns MLS praise despite Charlotte FC struggles
Croatian goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina is receiving significant individual acclaim in Major League Soccer (MLS) despite a difficult run of results for his club, Charlotte FC. In his last three matches against Columbus Crew, Philadelphia Union, and Portland Timbers, Kahlina recorded a total of 22 saves, though his team secured only one point during that period.
During a recent match against the Portland Timbers, Kahlina made eight saves, including a notable double save in the 87th minute that prompted Major League Soccer to ask, “Is this the save of the year?”. Previously, on October 14, he set a personal MLS record with 11 saves in a match against Columbus Crew, where his opponents registered 33 shots on goal.
While Charlotte FC has struggled to convert his performances into wins, the club has officially described his interventions as “miraculous,” noting his status among the league's top goalkeepers. Kahlina's career includes stints at Dinamo Zagreb, Gorica, and Ludogorets.
