Kristijan Petrović presents folklore lectures in Međimurje

Storyteller and journalist Kristijan Petrović, known as ‘The Dark Storyteller’, has conducted a series of lectures in the Međimurje region focusing on mythology, folklore, and historical superstitions.

In Prelog, Petrović delivered a presentation titled ‘Historia draconum’ at the City Library and Reading Room. The session explored dragon symbolism and local legends, including stories of ‘pozoji’, mythical creatures central to Međimurje oral tradition. The event was part of the ‘Month of the Croatian Book 2026’ program.

A subsequent lecture, ‘The Undead – Vampire Folklore of Eastern and Central Europe’, was scheduled at the Riznica Međimurja. This session addressed historical beliefs regarding vampires, such as strigoi and vrykolakasi, and the various rituals—including the use of garlic and stakes—that communities used to prevent the deceased from returning from their graves.
