Kristin Davis discusses body image struggles and dieting during ‘Sex and the City’

Actress Kristin Davis has shared details regarding her struggles with body image and extreme dieting during the filming of ‘Sex and the City’. Speaking on her podcast, ‘Are You a Charlotte?’, alongside former co-star Evan Handler, Davis described a period where she attempted to meet the era's slender beauty standards by consuming almost nothing but M&M’s for weeks.

Davis recalled that the restrictive diet left her looking ‘like bones’ and stripped her of her natural curves. She also addressed a difficult professional relationship with costume designer Patricia Field, noting that Field expressed frustration with Davis’s body type early in the series. Davis described Field as having no ‘filter’ regarding her comments. The actress noted that tensions only eased once her character’s storyline stabilized within her marriage to Harry, played by Handler.
