Kristin Krohn Devold to step down as NHO Reiseliv CEO

Kristin Krohn Devold will step down as the CEO of NHO Reiseliv on August 31 after 13 years leading the organization and 20 years working within the Norwegian tourism sector. Devold, who is turning 65, stated that while she is not retiring, she is seeking more flexibility and intends to continue with public and board positions.

During her tenure, Devold has overseen the transformation of Norwegian tourism from a small regional industry into one of the country’s most significant export sectors, now employing over 200,000 people. She noted the increased professionalization of hotels and restaurants, including the rise of Michelin-starred establishments.

Before her leadership at NHO Reiseliv, Devold served as the Secretary General of the Norwegian Trekking Association (Den Norske Turistforening) and held significant political roles, including serving as Norway’s Minister of Defence from 2001 to 2005.

In her departure, she highlighted concerns regarding the industry's framework, specifically pointing to high tax and fee levels compared to European competitors. Magne Kristensen, Director of Labor Policy, will serve as acting CEO until a permanent successor is appointed.
