Kristin Scott Thomas discusses aging and cosmetic surgery

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, 66, has expressed conflicting feelings regarding cosmetic surgery and the pressure on women in Hollywood to maintain a youthful appearance. In an interview with The Telegraph, the actress noted that she has considered a facelift but expressed reservations about the aesthetic outcome.

Scott Thomas described a facelift as “a kind of status symbol to display your wealth,” noting that such procedures can make a person look “expensive” rather than natural. She also highlighted the social complexity of aging, stating it can feel “diminishing” when people suggest a woman has not taken care of herself, even while acknowledging that many women care deeply about these issues.

Regarding her own history with cosmetic work, the actress clarified that she has only undergone non-invasive treatments, such as lasers and buccal massages, which do not require recovery time. She also observed that there are currently more interesting roles available for older women in the industry than in previous years.
