Kristine Dalsgaard Jacobsen debuts memoir on family conflict and cancer

Kristine Dalsgaard Jacobsen has released her debut book, ‘Tro, Håb, Splittelse’ (Faith, Hope, Division), which has seen significant commercial success, selling hundreds of copies and causing printing shortages due to high demand.

The memoir explores the family conflicts arising from her mother’s terminal cancer diagnosis and the subsequent pursuit of alternative treatments. By weaving excerpts from her mother’s diary into the narrative, the book provides dual perspectives on the ethical dilemmas faced when a patient seeks unproven cures. Jacobsen notes the book is not an indictment of alternative medicine itself, but an exploration of the difficult conversations and divisions that occur when families face life-threatening illnesses and promises of healing.

Jacobsen, who works in Aalborg, intends for the book to facilitate difficult dialogues among patients, relatives, and healthcare professionals. All profits from the book will be donated to Skyggebørn, an organization providing free grief support groups for children, youth, and adults.
