Kristine Stavås Skistad receives support after coaching split

National team coach Marit Bjørgen has expressed support for cross-country skier Kristine Stavås Skistad following her professional split from long-time coach Lage Sofienlund. Skistad has faced a difficult period after filing a formal warning against Sofienlund, which led to the end of their collaboration earlier this year.

While the case was dismissed, the Konnerud IL board issued a written reaction to Sofienlund following the investigation. Skistad has since moved to the club Mjøndalen IF Ski and recently withdrew from a national team training camp in Lillehammer to focus on her well-being. Bjørgen stated that she and her teammates are offering support to help Skistad navigate this transition.
