Kriti Sanon recently faced backlash over a jewellery advertisement for GIVA, which featured her in an Indo-Western outfit and tying a rakhi to a pet. The campaign was criticized by some users and MP Kangana Ranaut, leading the brand to withdraw the advertisement. Sanon responded by defending her right to choose her attire, stating that culture is not determined by a woman’s neckline. She later shared a post with her sister, Nupur Sanon, making a subtle reference to the ‘Rakhi fashion committee’.

Separately, Sara Ali Khan faced online debate after posting traditional celebrations with her brother, Ibrahim Ali Khan. While many fans praised her attire, some users engaged in communal commentary regarding her religious identity and heritage, while others compared her traditional clothing to the controversy surrounding Sanon.
