Kriváň hiking path to face temporary closures for safety upgrades

Temporary restrictions and closures are coming to the hiking path on Kriváň in the High Tatras at the end of September. The Hikemates tourist club, in collaboration with the Tatra National Park (TANAP) Administration and the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic, will be installing new chains and securing equipment on exposed sections of the trail.

Closures are scheduled for specific periods to ensure visitor safety during the installation process. Between September 23 and September 25, a section from the Kriváň Gorge junction to the summit will be closed for one day to allow for the helicopter transport of materials. Additionally, from September 28 to September 30, the same section will be closed again for the actual installation of the safety equipment.

During the work, hikers are advised to use alternative routes via Štrbské Pleso or Jamské Pleso. The project aims to make the ascent to Kriváň safer and ensure the long-term durability of the renovated path.
