Krk restaurant incident involves Hungarian tourists ordering pancakes

Four Hungarian tourists were reportedly asked to leave a restaurant on the Croatian island of Krk after attempting to order only pancakes during the busy dinner rush. The group, which waited approximately 10 to 15 minutes for a table, intended to order four portions of pancakes costing 7 euros each, totaling 28 euros.

The waiter reportedly told the group to leave, questioning why they would occupy a table for four during peak hours if they only intended to order dessert. The incident sparked a debate on social media regarding the rights of customers to order what they wish versus the rights of restaurant owners to maximize revenue per table during high-demand periods.

Mira Horvath, representing the Croatian Tourist Board in Hungary, clarified that there is no general regulation in Croatia requiring guests to meet a minimum spending amount. She noted that while establishments must clearly display their prices and business terms, they must adhere to them. Horvath suggested that guests who believe their rights have been violated should contact the State Inspectorate for Hospitality Supervision.
