Kırıkkale hosts recycling education while Sakarya school closes due to floods

In Kırıkkale, students from Şehitler Secondary School participated in an educational visit to a modern solid waste sorting and recycling facility organized by the Kırıkkale Municipality Zero Waste and Climate Change Directorate. During the tour, students observed the mechanical processes used to separate plastic, glass, metal, and paper from household and school waste to transform them into raw materials. The program aimed to raise environmental awareness and explain the importance of reducing carbon footprints.

In Sakarya's Karasu district, the Şehit Oktay Demirci Primary and Secondary School has been closed following a governorate decision due to recurring flooding. The school, located in the Darıçayırı neighborhood, was submerged for the third time within a single month after heavy rainfall and storms caused local streams and channels to overflow. This follows previous flood damage sustained in late September, which had recently been repaired before the latest incident.
