Kırıkkale murder investigation: 17 detained after body found in freezer

Seventeen suspects have been detained in connection with the murder of Hüseyin Okumuşoğlu, whose remains were discovered in a deep freezer in Kırıkkale. The body, which had been dismembered into seven pieces, was estimated to have been stored in the freezer for approximately 10 to 11 years.

Okumuşoğlu had been reported missing in 2014. The discovery was made in May 2025 after a landlord entered a tenant's apartment following a period of no contact.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Justice's Unsolved Crimes Research Department, the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducted an extensive investigation. This included taking statements from 98 individuals and communicating with 112 different institutions. Law enforcement utilized technical analysis of GSM lines, license plate recognition systems, and camera footage to identify the suspects. Simultaneous police operations were carried out in Kırıkkale, Ankara, and Aydın to execute the arrests.
