Kırıkkale murder investigation leads to 13 arrests after 12 years

Authorities in Kırıkkale have made significant progress in a cold case involving the murder of Hüseyin Okumuşoğlu, who disappeared in 2014. The investigation was reignited after his remains, which had been severed into seven pieces and kept in a deep freezer for approximately 11 years, were discovered in an apartment in May 2025.

Coordinated by the Ministry of Justice's Unsolved Crimes Research Department, investigators analyzed approximately 7 million pieces of data, including GSM Cell ID, LAC, and TAC analyses, license plate recognition records, and security footage. The extensive probe involved interviewing 98 individuals and corresponding with 112 different institutions.

Following simultaneous dawn raids in Kırıkkale, Ankara, and Aydın, 17 suspects were detained. Of these, 13 individuals have been arrested: six on charges of intentional murder and seven on charges of destroying evidence of a crime. Three suspects were released under judicial control, and one was released by the prosecutor.
