Kırklar Mosque reconstruction nears completion in Trabzon

The Kırklar Mosque, located on Kırklar Mountain at an altitude of 3,140 meters, is being reconstructed following a devastating fire that rendered the structure unusable. The Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality has launched a major restoration project to rebuild the site.

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç recently inspected the construction progress on-site. The new structure is designed to be built entirely of wood. According to officials, the rough construction phase is nearing completion, and the project is expected to be finished within approximately 40 to 45 days.

The reconstruction is a collaborative effort involving the municipality's Department of Science Affairs, local village headmen, regional associations, and private donors. The mosque holds significant spiritual and cultural importance for the local community.
