Polish driver’s car stuck on Bavarian footbridge after navigation error
A 78‑year‑old Polish man was driving a Volvo in the Bavarian Alps near Krün, following his navigation device toward the Finzalm. The route, initially a forest road, narrowed into a steep pedestrian trail and finally a narrow footbridge over the Angerl‑Graben. The car slipped sideways off the bridge and became wedged with its undercarriage on the structure.
Rescue crews—including the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Krün, a tow service, a local farmer and municipal staff—worked for about four hours to stabilise the bridge and lift the vehicle. No injuries were reported. Police opened an administrative offense for a traffic violation and noted that the driver ignored the narrowing road conditions despite the navigation prompts.
