Krnov western bypass project enters contractor search phase

The Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) is seeking a contractor for the construction of the western bypass of Krnov. The 3.4-kilometer project aims to connect road I/45 between Krnov and Brantice with road I/57 in Albrechtická Street. The bypass will connect to the northeastern bypass via a turbo-roundabout in Chomýž.

According to ŘSD spokesperson Jan Rýdl, the project is intended to divert transit traffic away from the city center, improving local air quality and safety while reducing travel times for transit drivers. The construction will include two bridges over the Jelení potok and Ježník valleys, measuring 164 and 158 meters respectively.

To mitigate the impact on the Ježnické forests, the city of Krnov has reached a compromise with ŘSD to fund the construction of two pedestrian walkways over the new road. The city has approved the funding, estimated at approximately 20.57 million CZK including VAT, and intends to apply for subsidies to offset these costs.
