Kärnten Bauernbund secures first place in agricultural chamber election
The Kärnten Bauernbund, led by Chamber President Siegfried Huber, defended its top position in the Carinthian Agricultural Chamber election, securing 47.15 percent of the vote. This result represents a 0.8 percentage point increase compared to the 2021 election, allowing the group to maintain its 18 mandates, which account for exactly half of the seats.
The Freedom Farmers (Freiheitliche Bauernschaft) saw significant growth, rising 5.6 percentage points to 26.15 percent and gaining three seats to reach a total of ten mandates. Other groups experienced declines, including the SJK, which held four seats with 10.9 percent, and the SPÖ farmers, which dropped to 8.5 percent and lost one seat.
Political leaders, including Bauernbund President Georg Strasser and Agriculture Minister Norbert Totchnig, congratulated Huber and his team, describing the outcome as a confirmation of their work for Carinthian farming families.
