Kärnten invests 1.46 million euros in psychosocial care
The Austrian state of Kärnten is expanding its outpatient psychosocial care services with a total investment of 1.46 million euros. Following a request by Health Councilor Beate Prettner, the funds will support four day centers located in Klagenfurt, Villach, Spittal an der Drau, and Wolfsberg.
Approximately 800,000 euros of the funding is dedicated to securing social-psychiatric aftercare. These services aim to provide structure and stability for individuals with mental and psychosocial impairments, helping them lead self-determined lives in their own environments. The day centers offer therapeutic programs and low-threshold services, having managed nearly 20,000 contacts across 300 clients in the previous year.
A planned expansion in Wolfsberg for 2027 aims to increase capacity from 15 to 25 care places to provide support before mental health issues escalate, thereby relieving the inpatient care system.
